TOPIC:
BECOMING LIKE CHRIST 3
TEXT: Rom. 8:29
INTRODUCTION
With readiness to become like
Christ, it is good that we first of all define the personality of the person we
want to become, every man that is worth becoming is worth something of us to
define.

With
His personality now revealed, (those were picked to help shift our minds away a
little from the conventional ones we know; son of God, Saviour, they are all
correct)
Then, ways of becoming like
Christ… one very important truth to acknowledge is that, becoming like Christ
is a Gradual process which includes:
TRANSFORMATION-REORMATION-CONFORMATION, let’s take a
walk along this 3-steps journey (as God
has called every man, so let Him walk 1 Cor. 7:17, Col. 2:6)
TRANFORMATION
This process is commonly referred to as
SALVATION process. True but this calls then for a widening of our hearts
towards this missing aspect i.e according to 2 Cor. 2:11, at transformation , a
man is delivered from the camp of Satan to God’s, a level is thus attained in
transformation when Satan no longer takes advantage of us
How Does This
Comes?..... It Comes By REVELATION
Revelation enhances
Transformation, that was a characteristics of the early disciples who became
like Him, Paul (2 Cor. 12), Stephen (Acts 6), our fathers
Prayer point: O
Lord reveal to me that which will cause a transformation in my Life to being
like You
REFORMATION
This is basically referred to as
the sanctification process which I call “the baking process”. This is the point
where the transformed man has to be reformed (by this I mean ‘reset’)
What Christ came to do was to
offer up Himself as a sacrifice of
Righteousness for our sins. This we also must satisfy, 2 cor. 2:15
How shall this be, except the
Refiner and Purifier Himself is permitted to do His work in bringing us to a
state to offer even ourselves as a Holy and Acceptable Sacrifice. Rom. 12
Why not come to the Refiner and
Purifier today to be reformed?
CONFORMATION
Have
you ever tried mixing a plate of Jollof rice with that of white rice, you can
easily sense the difference in the mixture. WHY?
Not
that a man does not conform except the first two steps are passed through and
satisfied. At conformation, everything in a reformed man is in the likeness of
Christ.
Check
out some essential characteristics in 1 Pt. 2:21-24
This
is so that when we behold Christ face to face according to 1 Cor. 13:12, all we
see is a total resemblance of His person
How Possible is
This Journey?
Christ
made this journey for us with ease and thereby leaving an example for us to
follow;
First…. Follow
His footprints (Heb. 2:16-17, 1 Pt. 2:21)
The
Bible says Christ came not in the nature of the heavenlies rather in our own
nature i.e. in flesh so we can see possibilities of doing away with flesh in
our bid to be like Him in Glory
Second…
2 Cor. 3:18
“people need to be taught to move with Spirit”- Ken.
E Hagins
It
is by the Holy Spirit that this work of becoming like Him is complete. Give
yourself over to the firm grip of the Holy Spirit as He molds us to His Being
